Truck insurance market trends: Arizona
Which insurers show up more or less on federal liability (BIPD) filings. Apr 2025 to Apr 2026 (latest full data).
These counts come from public FMCSA insurance filings. They are not insurer endorsements, ratings or rankings, and they say nothing about price, service or claims handling.
Insurers shown may not be writing new business. Ask a licensed agent.

What this means
These counts show changes in public liability filings only. They don't show any insurer's appetite, prices or willingness to write your business.

How this is calculated: for each motor carrier with a primary BIPD (auto liability) filing on FMCSA's public Licensing & Insurance records, we take the insurer of its most recent in-force filing at each month end. "Carriers insured" counts carriers, not policies, premium or dollars. A win means a carrier's current insurer changed to this insurer (new filing or switch). A loss means it changed away (cancelled or replaced). Share = carriers insured Γ· all carriers with a commercial BIPD filing in the segment (self-insured carriers excluded).
- Filings are not premium. These figures count carriers, not dollars, policies or vehicles. A 1-truck and a 500-truck carrier each count once.
- Insurers file with FMCSA after binding, and cancellations post on their effective date, so recent months can lag and get revised as late filings arrive.
- Only federal (interstate for-hire) BIPD filings are included. Intrastate-only carriers, private carriers without authority, cargo and physical damage coverage, and excess layers are not.
- FMCSA moved its Licensing & Insurance system to a new platform in mid-2026. The public files show far fewer new filings and cancellations from about May 2026 on. Months after the last complete month are treated as provisional and left out by default.
- Carrier state and fleet size are taken from the carrier's current census record and applied to all months. Fleet bands are self-reported power units on the MCS-150.
- Insurer groups are an editable mapping of legal entities to parent companies (config.market.insurerGroups). Name variants are normalized automatically and may still contain errors.
- Built from free public FMCSA data on data.transportation.gov. Not affiliated with or endorsed by FMCSA or any insurer. Not investment, legal or insurance advice.
Only aggregate counts are shown, and only for insurers with at least 10 carriers. No individual carrier is identified. Insurer groups combine related legal entities (e.g. all Progressive companies). Data from FMCSA files fetched 10/23/2026.
